To add Voronoi texture to an STL, generate adjustable irregular cells, project them across selected faces, choose whether walls or centres carry the relief, then bake the pattern into printable geometry.
Start with cell structure
Voronoi patterns divide a surface around irregular seed points. In Reskin3D you can adjust cell count, wall direction, softness and irregularity. That makes the pattern suitable for generative enclosure panels, creature surfaces and grips without importing a fixed image.
Choose cell count before depth. Broad cells give an FDM nozzle enough room to create connected boundaries; high counts often become rough noise after slicing.
Project across complex surfaces
Surface mapping follows an irregular selected region, while triplanar mapping is robust across boxy or multi-directional shapes. Orbit the whole model to find squeezed cells, phase changes and seams. Put the seam on the underside or align it with an existing edge.
A medium 24 mm visual tile and roughly 0.55 mm deboss are sensible initial values for a 0.4 mm nozzle. Emboss is more dramatic but can alter clearances.
Keep the result useful
The pattern should remain recognisably cellular in the sliced preview. If narrow walls disappear, reduce the cell count or increase Texture size. Use Edge feather where the selected region ends abruptly so the displacement returns smoothly toward the original surface.
Three-step workflow
- Select a broad decorative or grip region.
- Apply Voronoi Cells, use medium cells and choose raised walls or recessed cells.
- Bake and slice, checking wall continuity and the complete wrap seam.
